Assumed Protection Value
This graphic represents the Assumed Protection Value by frequency for each filter. The APV values are determined through laboratory tests with human subjects and assumes the minimum protection that is provided by the ear plug and filter in each of the frequency band. These values are used to calculate the decibel sound pressure at the ear drum with the hearing protector in place. The formula is sound pressure external to the ear plug (dB) – APV (dB) = attenuated sound pressure (dB) at the ear drum for that frequency band.
The reason these data are ‘assumed’ is because testing conditions are tightly uncontrolled vs. real world use. Not following instructions, ear canal physiology, poor maintenance etc. can result in the user not realizing the best performance. Following instructions is the most critical factor for realizing the best performance and in most cases the APV by frequency can be met when combined with proper maintenance. Wearing EarPeace properly is critical to maximizing effectiveness and avoiding noise induced hearing loss.
SNR vs. NRR
There are two methods for calculating the assumed level of attenuation (reduced sound pressure) provided by hearing protection - the Single Number Rating (SNR) used in Europe and the Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) used in the United States.
When hearing protection is tested, attenuation is measured by frequency, ranging from 125dB to 8000dB. To ease consumer decision making, standards bodies in the USA and the EU created systems to arrive at a single #. Both the SNR and NRR measurement methods give a single digit approximation of protection for all users.
The difference between the methods is in how they account for variations in people's experiences and in the testing protocol itself. Some individuals experience more or less protection because they have different shaped ear canals, for example. The NRR testing protocol does not give participants instructions or demonstrates proper plug usage. The NRR is always a lower number than the SNR because it assumes a great amount of variance in the way people use ear plugs and thus the protection they ultimately achieve.
The important factor in achieving the desired performance level is to follow the instructions. We carefully label our products and provide extensive communication on using EarPeace properly for maximum performance and protection. We principally reference the SNR rating because we believe it is a better approximation of the level of attenuation a user will experience.
EarPeace Contour Ear Plugs™
A complete, unbroken seal in the ear canal is critical for our PRO filters to perform optimally. Any gaps will compromise the audio performance and protection. Our patented Contour Ear Plugs™ have an offset wave shape that expands optimally in the ear. The oval format also mimics the ear canal. The crest of the wave is positioned at the top and bottom of the ear canal and expands first. This then presses the trough sides of the plug out, rebalancing the pressure around the edge of the plug. This creates a complete seal while also applying the least amount of pressure to the delicate ear canal. A complete seal is critical because any break compromises protection and audio fidelity.
The combination of our PRO filters and Contour Ear Plugs™ delivers professional level performance that artists and their fans can count on.

How to use
The most important aspect of wearing EarPeace earplugs properly is to position the tab so you can easily and safely insert and remove the plug. Watch the Instructional Video Here.
Here’s how:
- Pinch silicone pull-tab between index finger and thumb as illustrated, making sure the tab is on top.
- It is critical to pinch and hold the pull-tab as you insert the plug. This will position the pull-tab so that you can easily remove the plug from your ear.
- Reach over head with opposite hand and gently pull up and back on outer ear - this straightens the ear canal. Insert the earplug until comfortably snug, using your thumb to gently apply pressure against the plastic filer and guide the plug. Wiggling the plug back and forth a little will help.
-- DO NOT release the tab until you have successfully positioned the plug in ear
-- DO NOT push the plug further into ear after releasing the tab.
- Pulling up on the ear straightens the ear canal and is necessary to a proper fit. Without this step EarPeace earplugs will not provide maximum protection.
- Be gentle and do not over-insert.
- Clean after use with damp cloth and re-use.
How to change filters
EASY STEPS FOR CHANGING FILTERS:
Step 1: Use thumbs and index fingers to press on both ends of plug.
Step 2: Use thumbs to stretch silicone around wide end of filter.
Step 3: Move slowly so filter does not pop out and fall.
Step 4: Carefully remove filter with thumb and index finger.
Step 5: Replace desired filter in same manner.
Cleaning tips
EARPEACE IS EASY TO CLEAN AND MAINTAIN
Wipe the earplugs off with a damp cloth (e.g. wash cloth) each time you wear them. Keep them stored in the aluminum case. If they become particularly dirty you can wash them in warm soapy water - however - remove the plastic attenuation filter before submerging the plug in water. Reinsert the filter only after the plug has dried thoroughly. The earplugs should be replaced at any sign of wear and tear.
Warning
EarPeace ear plugs provide high performance, comfortable, and discrete hearing protection. However, the effectiveness of EarPeace earplugs depends on the circumstances of use and will also vary depending on factors such as the size of the user’s ear canal. Please do not use EarPeace if you are going to be in situations that require a greater degree of protection than EarPeace can afford. Please do not use EarPeace if you feel like your ears simply won’t accommodate a good fit. EarPeace is not intended to be used in situations where there is intense impulse noise such as with firearms or heavy machinery like jackhammers. Noise-induced hearing damage is a factor of exposure time and decibel level. Depending on the decibel level, hearing damage may occur even if EarPeace noise-canceling earplugs are used correctly. If you can not remove the earplug or it has damaged the ear, please seek the immediate assistance of an ENT physician.

Twice Over
This is my second set of EarPeace, and live shows are just a more pleasant experience because of them. I don’t leave the shows feeling as though I’ve had my head bashed in, and the following day isn’t nearly as painful as often times extremely loud music for long duration can make me feel as though I’ve got quite the gnarly hangover. These put an end to all of that, and I refuse to see live music without them. Not ONLY because they help my hearing, but they also still allow me to actually hear the music being played, all while making sure damage is at a bare minimum. Love them so very much.

The best I have tried
After many many different types including custom moulded ear protection these are by far the best I have used. I use these for riding my motorcycle as they are smaller and fit better in my ears and have the same filters as the motorcycle ones. Highly recommend and will buy again.

Great service and ear plugs!
Customer service was fantastic! Super friendly, and they took care of a mix up with the order lighting fast. The Music Pros work just as advertised. No discernible nodes in the filtering, so everything sounds natural, not muffled, just quieter. The "tree" shaped design is usually painful for me, but since these are ovoid and not round, it's fairly comfortable. Overall, these are a game changer for me!

Excellent product
I bought EarPeace for my daughter, who has sensory issues, and she was able to enjoy her favourite band at an arena gig in comfort and without the need for bulky ear defenders. She found the noise quality perfect and the EarPeace extremely comfortable.

FAQ Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between EarPeace and Foam Ear Plugs?
We develop “high fidelity” hearing protection. Each of our products include precision engineered acoustic filters that allow in a precise amount of unobstructed sound. You get all frequencies, just at a lower volume. EarPeace is great for any loud environment where you need to lower the decibel level and still hear clearly, enjoying live music or riding your motorcycle. Foam ear plugs, on the other hand, are not high fidelity. They do not have an acoustic filter in them. This means that they block the maximum amount of sound, but the compromise is that you lose most of the high frequencies. Foam ear plugs are great for industrial applications, shooting, working on the tarmac at an airport, etc. - all things that require the highest amount of protection possible because they are the loudest environments. But they are not particularly good for music or other activities where the dB level is lower and where you want to be able to hear in “high fidelity.” The other aspects that differentiate EarPeace from foam are noted on our site - they are much more comfortable, more discreet, and they come in a great carrying case. These are all major reasons why people in general won’t wear hearing protection, so we solved these issues when developing EarPeace.
What is the difference between Music, Moto & Safety?
All models have the same great filter set so you get the best audio quality out there. Each model includes 3 sets of filters (11, 14 & 19 db reduction) with distinct color plugs for different communities.
What are the various filters used for?
EarPeace Music, Moto & Safety original include 3 sets of filters. The medium and high filters are high fidelity, evenly lowering the sound pressure across frequencies. The max filter is a total block filter for when you need to really turn down the volume. Each filter set performs differently to fit your specific needs. Medium Protection (CLEAR) = SNR 17 / NRR 11. These filters are suitable for most loud events. Rehearsals, dance events, movies are all examples. High Protection (RED) = SNR 20 / NRR 14. These filters are perfect for your live concerts, festivals, decrease wind noise & engine noise when on your motorcycle OR DIY projects around the house. Max Protection (BLACK) = SNR 26 / NRR 19. These filters are a total block for when you really need to turn down the noise. Perfect for working the stage or sleeping.
How do I know which size to order- Standard or Petite?
Ear canal sizes vary widely but our universal fit Standard size ear plugs fit ~80% of users. If you have comfortably used earplugs before or your music ear buds fit easily we recommend ordering our Standard size. Our Petite size ear plugs are 20% smaller and may fit you best if you have had experiences where ear plugs won’t stay in your ear, or, your music ear buds become uncomfortable over time. You may have also been told by an audiologist that you have smaller ear canals.
How do I clean my EarPeace?
EarPeace is easy to clean and maintain. Wipe the ear plugs off with a damp cloth (e.g. wash cloth) each time you wear them. Keep them stored in the aluminum case. If they become particularly dirty you can wash them in warm soapy water - however - remove the plastic attenuation filter before submerging the plug in water. Reinsert the filter only after the plug has dried thoroughly. The ear plugs should be replaced at any sign of wear and tear.
Can EarPeace be used for shooting?
EarPeace was designed for optimum performance in loud environments where you need passive protection - music events, motorsports, DIY projects, and even the movies. We include a MAX protection filter that is a solid block but EarPeace is not originally designed for impulse noise like shooting. Shooting requires fully blocking the ear canal and the best solution for that is over the ear muffs or if budget allows our Custom FIT EarPeace with Impulse Filters. The impulse filters available in our custom fits are the highest tech solution available for shooting enthusiasts. The filters contain an acoustic membrane that is engineered to snap stiff when exposed to impulse noise - like a gunshot. The membrane immediately relaxes and you are able to hear clearly again. You'll be able to communicate freely, be highly situationally aware and protected when you pull the trigger.
